Thank you for visiting my website! I am glad you are here!
I teach 6th grade science at Hoover Middle School in Waterloo. Our curriculum is driven by Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS ) and includes an infusion of science process skills throughout the topics of living things, properties of matter and chemical interactions, Earth science, human systems interactions and the endocrine system in the human body.
I have created this website as a tool to use with my students and to help support them in my class. Please check out the "Useful Links" page. There are pages under this link for each unit we will study this year. You will find links to the online science textbook as well as links to other sites that we may use for class, or students can use to help them with homework, or studying for a test. Also, there are individual tabs for each unit under the "Homework" page.
During the 2016-2017 school year, Waterloo Community Schools began to implement 1:1 technology for 6th grade students by issuing a district Chromebook to each student. During the 2017-2018 school year, this initiative was expanded to include 7th grade. Because of this, I use Google Classroom with my science classes to communicate information, utilize digital assignments, and support our class instruction. As a parent, you have the option of being included on weekly summaries through Google Classroom to keep you informed of what is going on in our classroom. If you have not yet received an invitation to join Google Classroom for my science class, please email me, including the email address or addresses you wish to add to our class.
Please feel free to contact me any time with any questions, comments or concerns. You can contact me at Hoover by phone at (319) 433-2830, or by email at [email protected]. I am looking forward to working with your child this year and having an exciting year in science!
